Every sample collected in the field must undergo DNA extraction before it can be tested for ranavirus. This requires the Qiagen DNeasy Blood & Tissue Kit, a specialist laboratory kit that is essential for detecting the virus but is also one of the most expensive laboratory consumables used throughout my research. Donations also help fund everyday laboratory supplies, including pipette tips, tubes and other consumables needed to process samples.
